Justin established Notch Works Ltd to leverage his unique array of skills and professional interests to help companies bring their products to market with high-quality documentation.
Justin holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Chinese Language from the University of Colorado – Boulder, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado – Denver.
Over a 16-year career in the life sciences, Justin has worked for service providers and within the medical device industry, as both a localization project manager and a lead content developer for medical device labeling.
Some of Justin’s career highlights include:
Developing the user interface (UI) text, instructions for use, and operator’s manual for both clinical testing and commercial launch versions of an apheresis collection platform
Converting five regional versions of a 300-page user manual from unstructured FrameMaker to a modular Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) XML format
Designing a common framework used with six unique medical device platforms to assess labeling required to comply with the European Union’s 2017 Medical Device Regulation
Integrating a Technical Communications team into the company’s Design Controls processes by defining best practices and authoring customized training materials
Developing new instructions for use to support transfer of 30 SKUs to a new manufacturing facility using a modular DITA architecture
Managing the localization of instructions for use, packaging, and labeling for multiple product launches for a blood-glucose measuring device manufacturer
Managing the localization of a new employee onboarding program for a major global healthcare brand
